Non-Governmental Initiatives: As Safe As Possible The As Safe As Possible Campaign provides support and guidance in developing and implementing child safety programs, working with local organizations to establish invaluable injury prevention programs in their communities, based on needs identified by community members. The As Safe As Possible Campaign encourages activities and other efforts that prevent injuries to children. ASAP advocates for children by promoting new ideas and offering new solutions to solve the long standing childhood injury crisis. ASAP analyzes and monitors programs to find out what works for child safety and what doesn't. It educates the public and the media about children's safety issues, and builds networks to forge stronger relationships among diverse community groups and individuals who are determined to improve the quality of life for children. Bicycling Info Provides information to determine how walkable and bikeable your community is. Also outlines ways to improve unsafe conditions in your community. Injury Free Coalition for Kids A National Program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation comprised of hospital-based, community-oriented programs, whose efforts are anchored in research, education, and advocacy. Currently, the coalition includes 40 sites located in 37 cities, each housed in the trauma centers of their participating institutions. Institute for Child Health Policy, University of Florida Their health services research and evaluation activities center around developing and applying scientific knowledge that will promote health, improve health-related outcomes, deliver quality care, and inform health policy decisions related to children and youth. This includes the Florida Healthy Kids Program. National Resource Center for Health and Safety in Child Care Provides information for parents, providers, and regulators about healthy and safety in a child care situation. Nemours KidsHealth is the largest and most visited site on the Web providing doctor-approved health information about children from before birth through adolescence. Created by The Nemours Foundation's Center for Children's Health Media, the award-winning KidsHealth provides families with accurate, up-to-date, and jargon-free health information they can use. Prevention Institute The organization builds on the successes of a variety of fields and applies them to new challenges in fields such as injury and violence prevention, traffic safety, health disparities, nutrition and physical activity, and youth development. Injuries and traffic safety are two major interests, and they have numerous projects related to the two. Safe Kids Campaign The National SAFE KIDS Campaign is the first and only national non-profit organization dedicated solely to the prevention of unintentional childhood injury. More than 300 state and local SAFE KIDS coalitions in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico comprise the Campaign. The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health is devoted exclusively to promoting, protecting, and sustaining the health of children, with a focus on San Mateo and Santa Clara counties in Northern California. They have a special interest in protecting children aged 0-5 from injury. Canadian Injury Prevention Strategy Provides information about injury prevention strategies, research, and surveillance.
